3 Nollywood films selected for Hollywood exhibition

Three Nigerian films, Lionheart, King of Boys and Up North, are selected for showcase at the 2019 edition of ‘Nollywood in Hollywood’ slated to hold on March 22 and 23 in Hollywood California, USA. As a testament to the growing feat of Nigerian women in the film industry, women directed the selected films, all produced in 2018. Jussie Smollett staged racist attack over salary

Police Superintendent Eddie Johnson said in a news conference that he "took advantage of the pain and anger of racism to promote his career". Mr Smollett is charged with filing a false police report after he said he was the victim of a homophobic attack. Police say he also had sent a racist letter to himself at a Fox studio.

It’s official nobody’s hosting the 2019 oscars

This year's Oscars will be held without an official host - for the first time in 30 years. In December, comedian Kevin Hart pulled out of hosting the ceremony following a controversy over old homophobic tweets. He said he did not want to be a distraction and that he was "sorry he had hurt people".
