According to reports, some hoodlums who were allegedly hired to assassinate the Minister of Labour and Employment, Dr. Chris Ngige, have been apprehended. Senator Dino Melaye again escaped an assassination attempt in Lokoja, Kogi State on Friday when a volley of bullets was sprayed on his vehicle. An eye witness said the senator in company with some PDP stalwarts were coming from the GRA residence of former governor of Kogi State, Alh Ibrahim Idris, when his vehicle was attacked. The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has announced a reschedule of the February 16 National Assembly and Presidential elections to Saturday, February 23rd 2019, and the Governorship and State Houses of Assembly elections earlier scheduled for March 2nd to Saturday, March 9 2019,citing logistic concerns. At least 66 persons have been reported killed, and four wounded by unknown gunmen in Maro Gida and Iri communities in Kajuru local government areas of Kaduna. The Kano Police Command says it has arrested two suspects in possession of 14 bags of fake specimen ballot papers in Kano metropolis. He said that the suspects were arrested on Feb.13, Wednesday evening by some police officers attached to Metro Area Command in the metropolis.
The Code of Conduct Tribunal, CCT, sitting in Abuja, has ordered key security agencies in the country to arrest the suspended Chief Justice of Nigeria, CJN, Justice Walter Onnoghen, and produce him for trial on Friday February 15th. The order followed an application the Federal Government made for a bench warrant to be issued against the suspended CJN who has refused to come before the tribunal to answer to allegations of non-disclosure of his assets after he assumed office in March 2017.
