Google, UBA Collaborate To Provide Free Wi-Fi To Customers
United Bank for Africa (UBA) Plc has collaborated with Google and ISP partner to launch Google Station in 11 key UBA branches in Lagos State as part of plans to roll out 200 stations in the country. Google Station, a platform for providing free, high-speed Wi-Fi hotspots in public places, began in Lagos last year, and extended to Abuja in December in partnership with Backbone Connectivity Network.

Quadriga has filed for creditor protection and estimates that about C$180m ($137m; £105m) in cryptocurrency coins is missing. It has not been able to locate or secure its cryptocurrency reserves since Gerald Cotten died in December. Cotten, 30, had sole responsibility for handling the funds and coins. In court documents filed with the Nova Scotia Supreme Court on 31 January, his widow Jennifer Robertson, says the laptop on which Cotten "carried out the companies' business is encrypted and I do not know the password or recovery key".

Nigeria’s Inflation rate increases in Dec 2018 —NBS
The National Bureau of Statistics, says the Consumer Price Index which measured inflation increased to 11.44 per cent (year-on-year) in December 2018 from 11.28 per cent recorded in November 2018. The NBS disclosed this in its “CPI and Inflation Report’’ for December released in Abuja on Wednesday on its website. The bureau said the figure was 0.16 per cent points higher than the rate recorded in November in the period under review.

World Bank President steps down
Jim Yong Kim has made the surprise announcement that he is stepping down after six years in the post. His resignation will take effect from 1 February. Mr Kim, 59, was not due to leave until 2022, after he was re-elected for a second five-year term in 2017. He will "join a firm and focus on increasing infrastructure investments in developing countries", the World Bank said.
