The heart of a 35-year-old woman, who suffered from brain death, was successfully transplanted into a 12-year-old girl on Friday September 28 in Tehran after being transferred by air medical services from Imam Reza Hospital in Tabriz to Shariati Hospital in Tehran.
There is a nearly 600-kilomerter distance between Tabriz and Tehran and the heart was successfully transferred to Tehran for transplanting.
Iran’s medical emergency team has managed to transfer eight hearts from a city to another one during nine operations so far.
