Why I kidnapped, murdered Imo Magistrate — Suspect

Recall that on November 22, 2018, the deceased magistrate was abducted alongside Nnaekezie’s wife, Uju Nwanne, who is a clerk in the magistrate court but his body was found the following day along Amucha road in Njaba LGA.

The body of the magistrate, which was riddled with bullet wounds, was covered with a mask and a tag with the inscription “SNAPP 55”.

Nnaekezie, 37, who made the stunning confession when he was paraded by the state Commissioner of Police, Mr. Dasuki Galadanchi, before newsmen at the Police Command Headquarters last Friday, said he had hired three other persons now at large who he paid the sum of N500,000 to abduct the late Ogu.

“I hired three other persons who I paid the sum of N500,000 to join me. We kidnapped and murdered the magistrate because he has been dating my wife, Uju Nwanne, who is the clerk at the magistrate court in Uburu,” he confessed.

Meanwhile, Galadanchi told journalists that the police had on receiving the report of the incident ordered for a full-scale investigation to unravel it.

The Commissioner said: “Upon receipt of the report, I ordered a full scale investigation into the matter to unravel the mystery surrounding the incident and possibly arrest the perpetrators of the dastardly act. Sequel to the directives, operatives of the Homicide Section of the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID) swung into action and in the course of investigation, one Friday Nnaekezie ‘m’ 34 years of Eziama Ubulu in Oru West LGA of Imo State was identified.

“The suspect who fled to Lagos State after committing the crime was eventually arrested.

He has however confessed to the crime stating that he hired three other men now at large and paid them the sum of N500, 000 and along with himself, they abducted and murdered the deceased because he was dating his wife.  Meanwhile efforts are on top gear to apprehend the fleeing members of the gang.”
